Huntington Story

At 10 p.m. on Wednesday 53 year old, Janice Jones, was accidentally shot in her leg.
The event occurred in Barstow, California in a motor home parked near Highway 1 on Beach Boulevard.

The gun was discharged when it hit the floor after Jones' dog knocked the weapon of a feet in the mobile home.

California Highway Patrol, Tammy Rye, said "It could have been worse".

Jones was taken to Huntington Beach Hospital and later was transported to Irvine Medical Center.

Officer Rye said, “The bullet hit two inches from the gas tank.”

The dog, a Pomeranian called Tombo, was taken by the Huntington Beach Animal.

Tombo had fresh cigarette burns on its forehead and was malnourished. “It could have done with a little less abuse and a few more of those pork chops,” Janet Ngo, one of the animal control officers said.

Ngo hinted her office would explore filling animal abuse charges against Jones.

Rye said officers cited Jones for expired plates a  nd the county’s district attorney’s office was considering whether to charge her in relation to the gun accidentals considering Jones didn't have a permit for the gun.
