Huntington Story

At 10 p.m. on Wednesday 53 year old, Janice Jones, was accidentally shot in her leg.
The event occurred in Barstow, California in a motor home parked near Highway 1 on Beach Boulevard.

The gun was discharged when it hit the floor after Jones' dog knocked the weapon of a feet in the mobile home.

California Highway Patrol, Tammy Rye, said "It could have been worse".

Jones was taken to Huntington Beach Hospital and later was transported to Irvine Medical Center.

Officer Rye said, “The bullet hit two inches from the gas tank.”

The dog, a Pomeranian called Tombo, was taken by the Huntington Beach Animal.

Tombo had fresh cigarette burns on its forehead and was malnourished. “It could have done with a little less abuse and a few more of those pork chops,” Janet Ngo, one of the animal control officers said.

Ngo hinted her office would explore filling animal abuse charges against Jones.

Rye said officers cited Jones for expired plates a  nd the county’s district attorney’s office was considering whether to charge her in relation to the gun accidentals considering Jones didn't have a permit for the gun.

Nut Graf

The nut graph is a sentence, or sentences, that summarize or get the point across.  It should let the reader know what they can expect from the rest of the story. In an inverted pyramid, it should serve as the 'why'. It also would tell the readers why they should care about the story. It can translate the title of the piece and explain the connection.
The point of the nut graph is for the author to ask 'why'. Why are they writing this article? What is the point of this article? What is the significance of this event?

1. What impact does the government shut down have on your?
I wouldn't say that is has that big on an affect on me. I don't know anyone that works in the government. I'm sure that for the people that work there, it is very hard for since they can't work

2. Tell me what you have heard your parents, family members, friends say about the government shut down?
Honestly, I haven't heard anything about the government shut down. I live with my mom and two brothers and none of us are very into politics, until election time comes around. From what I can gather though, it does not seem to be a very positive thing.

3. Does what you hear sway your opinion about the leadership of our country? What do you think about our leaders, our president, and the government in general?
Since, previous to right now, I haven't heard anything about it, I would have to answer with a no. I don't know very much about politics and am still very young so I don't have that big of an opinion of what is going on. Our government and president don't seem able to get it together and make the import decisions that need to be made.

4. Has it changed since the shut down has actually happened? Why or Why not?
Having just heard abut it, I would say no or at least not drastically. Its hard to have an opinion when your not complety sure whats going on. That being said, I think the movement shutting down can't be a very good thing either.
